About

These words best describe me – dreamer, achiever and a compassionate person, trying to contribute towards the development of the society. I chose not to be mere a bystander, accusing ‘others’- government etc for all the apathy, rather, chose to be a part of a team, who believes in bringing change. An optimistic lot, we definitely are…

Currently, I am a development practitioner and proud to be striving for a society where poverty, one day, hopefully remain to be just an archaic word. Through this blog, I want to connect with people directly, share information about myriad issues , debate on policies and mobilize people towards a unified social change.

Three cheers for development!!

  16. Dear Pinky,

I was going through the Atlas Service Corps fellows profile and thier placemnet at host organisations. It is indeed great to know that you worked in the N-E region of India.

Its a begining and there are lost of social issues to be discussed on this trouble torn but beautiful part of India.

In anticipation of continuity. Thanking you

  17. Dear Anjan,

Thank you for writing to me. I not only worked in the NE rgeion, I was born there , in Guwahati.I left for delhi after graduation and since then have been in delhi. However, did get this wonderful opportunity of working with a poverty alleviation project in meghalaya , which changed my perspective and my life. Like you rightly sais, it is a begining and there are indeed so many issues that grips our region, which is shocking. Though far away, my heart truly lies in my hometown even the world’s most powrful place (washington DC) can’t change that.

Would love to interact with you

    Pinky

  18. Hi Ms Pinky

While visiting Atlascorps, I had the chance to go through your profile. Since i am developing interest to go for this fellowship, i have some doubts in my mind, which I think only the Atlas corps fellows can better reply and u r the only over there with this blog spot adress.

May I request you to help me in this regard: Well I believe, you do :)

Before I ask any ?, I think you wud like to know a bit about me.

Let me give u a quick intro about me.. I was a professional banker for last 15 years but one day It changed my mind and decided to leave all this and continue with my social and welfare endeavours.

I estabilshed an organization in 2006 with help of my freinds and associates, volunteers and other. Ihave recently registered this org formally with govt. dept. as Evolution Welfare Organzation EWO. which focuses on child education, women health and hygeine, environment upgradation, safe drinking water, social justice, and disaster relief and humanitarian assistance. well we will discuss more later on.

I would apreciate if you can respond the following on my email:

    1. How was your total experince as Atlascorp volunteer.
    2. Is it worth going and working with a NGO in US.
    3. How did u manage your schedule at home, While you were in US for 50 weaks.
    4. Any problems/issues u faced in US.

thanks for ur time to read and thank u very much in advance.

    Kind Regards

    Mansoor
    President
    Evolution Welfare Organization, Karachi.

  19. Dear Mansoor,

Thank you for writing to me.And I will be more than happy to share information about my experiences with the fellowship as well as professional life in US.

    Here are the answers:

How was your total experince as Atlascorp volunteer?
    - So far the experience has been very rewarding. It is a challenging environment for we are here not only to learn but also to contribute to the work that our host organisation is advancing.

Is it worth going and working with a NGO in US?
This is a matter of personal choice. For me the fellowship and the knowledge that I am gaining while working with a US based NGO is phenomenal. The work enviornment is very conducive for professional growth.

How did u manage your schedule at home, While you were in US for 50 weaks?

This is unclear to me but I am managing it well and so are the other fellows. We also have a fellow from Pakistan. Thanks to skype and similar such programs , connecting with family and friends have never been made so easy.

It is like any other day at work. You will be required to put in 7-8 hrs daily with your host organisation and you will get holidays just like the other employees.Once a month you will have to attend a training program hosted by Atlas Service Corps.

    4. Any problems/issues u faced in US.

Personally speaking I haven’t faced any issue so far, since I am open to changes and good at adapting myself.Food, climate , culture and people..over a period of time , one gets adjusted to all this and carries life in a normal sense.

I hope i have answered your queries well.Incase you have further question, please feel free to share. And all the best with your application. You must apply.

    Cheers
    Pinky
